A consistent gelding who has the size to progress over both hurdles and fences. He has raced 14 times in is career. Starting off in Bumpers for Pat Kelly and recording a Racing Post Rating high of 98 in Ireland He then moved to Henry De Bromhead, ran in three Maiden races to gain a handicap mark in September/October 2020, before taking a break and returning in June 2021.
He returned in a Handicap Hurdle finishing 3rd of 13 beaten 7 lengths. After a below par run he was then switched to Maiden company to finish 2nd of 8 at Downpatrick behind a hot Willie Mullins favourite. He then followed that with a 6 length win at Wexford earning a race comment of..
'Close up, soon pressed leader, led halfway, went clear going best before 2 out, pushed out run-in, comfortably'.
He was recommended to us by Henry via one of Kayley's owners who also has horses with him. The English Handicapper added 10lbs onto his Irish mark which we believe was fairly harsh. We have enjoyed days out at Cheltenham and Wincanton on their big Boxing Day Meeting before running very encouragingly at Taunton in February. Urabamba now has a very attractive mark of 98 and is ready to be competitive this coming season over hurdles before tackling fences.

He was purchased by his previous trainer Jamie Snowden for €18,000 at the Tattersalls Ireland May Store Sale in 2019 and was broken and prepared for his Bumper debut at Stratford last September. In what was a steady early pace, Oak travelled well within himself, he was outpaced one furlong out and stayed on nicely to finish third behind Hooper and Luttrell Lad. We first ran him in Novices Hurdles in October 2021 and he progressed with every run. The penny started to drop when he was just over 2 lengths third at Bangor on soft ground. He then backed that up with a fourth at Exeter after which we ventured to Newbury and recorded a third place. With a win in our sights we kept him going only to be brought down at the last at Southwell next time. His final run for the season was a return to Southwell where he finished second to a well handicapped horse and was six lengths clear of the third. He ended the season with a handicap mark of 106 over hurdles and we cannot wait to go chasing with him this season.
