The Team

The Team

Stronger in numbers.

We’re only as strong as the team behind us! We have an extremely hard working team who pull together to put the horses needs before their own and understand the importance of noticing the little things.

We’re lucky to have so many competent riders and true horsemen in the team who are a real asset in developing our young horses.

Kayley Woollacott

Kayley studied a BA Hons. Business degree at Cirencester Royal Agricultural College during which she trained Point to Pointers as her hobby. After 15 years experience and over 100 point to point winners, Kayley took on the National Hunt License due to the passing of her husband Richard. She went on to win the Grade 1 Betway Novices’ Hurdle followed by the Grade 2 Racing Post Arkle Trial with stable star Lalor in 2018.

Kayley continues to train around 10 National Hunt horses each season, achieving a very decent placed and win strike rate. She has a great eye for a horse and is often seen at the Sales looking for young stock or Horses In Training for owners. Along with the National Hunt yard, Kayley helps with the running of the Point to Point yard which is headed up by her partner and successful Amateur and Point to Point jockey, Josh Newman.

Josh Newman

Having ridden over 130 Point to Pointer winners and more than 20 winners Under Rules, Josh Newman is steeped in experience with horses. He grew up on the family farm and was introduced to racing from a young age with Nigel Hawke training at home. His mother Tanya, rode in Points and even around Badminton Horse Trials, so it wasn’t surprising that just after Josh’s 16th Birthday, he had his first ride in a race.

Josh headed to Alan King’s to gain more experience and at the age of 22, he rode his first Cheltenham Festival winner aboard Midnight Prayer. After a stint with Sam and Ali Stronge, Josh headed back to Somerset, where he worked for the likes of Champion Point to Point Trainer Jack Barber and National Hunt Trainer Harry Fry, while still riding successfully in Points. In 2022, Josh took over the role of training the Point to Pointers from Kayley’s lifelong friend, Neil Mclean. 2022/23 saw Josh have his best season in and out the saddle, having ridden 22 winners seeing him finish 4th in the National Men's Championship and saddle 17 winners, to see Blackmore Farm win the Leading Trainer Title for less than 15 horses.
