The Countdown Is On!

A long overdue blog and lots to catch up on! Roll back to the 19th of April where Hearts Corner won the Intermediate Hunter Chase at Exeter in good form under Josh for owner Becky Roach. Hearts Corner has his own way of jumping but it was nice to see him put in a solid performance like this.

We headed to Axe Vale, Stafford Cross, with 4 solid chances and had a good day albeit a small mishap. Josh mistook the last fence for the ditch (which you bypass on the final circuit) on Important Notice and was subsequently disqualified after winning the Hunt Race. Donny’s Fortune ran a good race in the Intermediate to finish 3rd. Sixteen Letters was seeking his 16th win but Ninth Wave got the better of him in a driving finish and Whitsand Bay did the business in the Restricted under a fabulous ride from Callum Pritchard. On to Vauterhill where we landed a double from two mares who deserved to get their heads in front. Bang On Target dead heated in the Grassroots Conditions race under Robbie David and Did Ja Ever won easily in the Mares and Fillies Maiden under Josh. All the horses ran very well at Upcott Cross albeit a slightly frustrating day with three 2nds. See You Kauto, Whitsand Bay and Hearts Corner all walked away the runner up but Important Notice looked extremely impressive when winning the Restricted comfortably. He is a seriously exciting prospect for his owners Tom and Sally Dalley who will campaign him under rules next season. New recruit, Moonbow, made an impressive start to his career when winning the Maiden at Cothelstone on debut. He has since gone on to Goffs UK Horses In Training sale where he made £20,000. We enjoyed an across the card double on Saturday with Sixteen Letters getting his 16th win at Peper Harow with Izzie Marshall aboard in the Ladies Open. What an incredible servant he has been throughout his career! Varinia won the Bumper at Trecoed under Josh and looks to be another with a good career under rules ahead of her and is now entered in the Thoroughbid sale next week.

Our Dylan backed up his Hereford win with another brilliant win at Stratford on the 9th May. He has been a brilliant horse for 4racing Owners Club and we are so glad he is now able to repay their patience with two wins on the bounce. It was heartbreaking for the team to lose Nickelsonthedime at Warwick on the 11th May. He has been a huge part of the team for several seasons and was most certainly part of the furniture and will be missed by everyone.

We have just returned from a busy week at Doncaster Goffs UK Horses In Training sale. We bought a beautiful 3yo Store by Shirroco (pictured below) and also brought two from the Horses In Training section both out of the Irish Point to Point field. Moonbow sold well and made £20,000 and has gone to Patrick Neville. We head to Ireland next week for the Tattersalls May Store Sale.

Looking forward to this weekend, it is the last weekend of the National Point to Point season and we currently sit three wins ahead of Alan Hill in the National Trainers Championship. We have had an incredible season and will be trying our hardest to walk away with the title come Monday but win, lose or draw it has been an amazing season!
